The New York State Police report that on February 1, 2015, Troopers issued 1,390 tickets during the Super Bowl Sunday STOP-DWI enforcement period.
"The campaign began at noon on February 1st, 2015 and continued until midnight. During this STOP-DWI campaign, the New York State Police increased patrols and conducted sobriety checkpoints to deter, identify and arrest impaired drivers."
During this 12-hour campaign, 31 people were arrested for Driving While Intoxicated (DWI). Additionally, tickets were also issued for the following offenses: Speed (408), Distracted Driving – cell phone use/texting (39), Seatbelt (55) and Move Over Law (16).
